As in years past, the community team will have a reduced presence on the forums, Twitter,

But fear not! We’ll be back in January to ring in the new year with continued updates concerning Patch 2.0.1, Reaper of Souls, and so much more!

So from all of us here at Blizzard Entertainment,

Little Empire Mojo

we hope you have a wonderful holiday season, and thank you for your continued passion for Diablo III!

Crithto: Skewered by an arrow and a stake, Viscidus lurches about inside its own chambers awaiting any life form it can assimilate into its cellular mass. If you’re quick and knowledgeable enough,

and you can become the proud owner of the Viscidus Globule. With this pet on your team, you can instantly get the upper hand—just open with Weakness and follow up with Expunge. But if the horrific memories of facing Viscidus inspire your strategy, feel free to give your opponent an agonizing death by unleashing Acid Touch, Poison Spit, and Creeping Ooze.

Our Friends and Family Beta is just the first step of public testing, and by the end of the year we will be moving into Closed Beta.

Is anything really needed?

We know that Blizzard likes the active mitigation scheme for tanks - you hit buttons to generate resources to use to mitigate damage - and that I expect will remain unchanged.

You will hit Shield Slam and Revenge to generate rage to use Shield Block and Barrier. I'm not sure if anything new will be added to that. Is anything really needed?

I'd like it if our Tier 15 and Tier 16 2 piece tank set bonuses were just baked into our tanking style, but aside from that I don't expect the style to change. But with gear going to this level of homogenization, there's definitely going to be some seismic shifts in terms of how we go about doing it.

In a way, that may be all for the good - people trying tanking for the first time won't need an entirely new set of gear to do it.

We start with a simple motif

"This blade would have a visual connection to snakes and reptiles. Some of our most successful Legendary items sprang out of such humble beginnings.

We start with a simple motif and asked ourselves, ‘What would I want out of a weapon in this style? What is the game fantasy of the player who wants this kind of item?'
